Hello!

Hello! My name is Michael Stephens, and I am an English teacher from America living in the countryside in Mie prefecture. I have played in Pokemon card game tournaments in America since I was 12 years old, but in college I didn’t play very much. But now I have more free time, and I want to get involved in the Pokemon card game players’ community here in Japan! Unfortunately there is no discussion forum like Pokegym or Virbank City, but it seems instead players keep these online diaries. So, I wanted to make my own diary to participate in the community! In order to make my blog readable to as many people as possible, I will write all entries in English and Japanese. For English readers, I’m sorry that I might reduce my English to a somewhat basic level - I want to try to stick to things that I can say in both languages as much as possible.
This weekend I’m going to a Gym Battle (small weekly local tournaments, the equivalent of things like League Challenges and Battle Roads and local leagues in America) in Tsu on Saturday, and the Battle Festa (one of the few big yearly tournaments in Japan, sort of like a Regionals) in Shizuoka on Sunday. So, my first real post will be a tournament report from those events! I’m looking forward to it! :)
